Tulunad or Tulu Nadu, also called Bermere sristi or Parashurama Srishti, is a region and a proposed
state on the southwestern coast of India. The Tulu people, known as 'Tuluva' (plural 'Tuluver'), speakers
of Tulu, a Dravidian language, are the preponderant ethnic group of this region.
According to mythology, the district was reclaimed by Parashurama from the sea. Tulu Nadu were
recovered from the Arabian Sea by the axe-wielding warrior sage Parashurama, the sixth avatar of Vishnu (hence, Kerala is also called Parasurama Kshetram 'The Land of Parasurama.

the language, culture, customs, and ethnicity of these regions are entirely
different from other regions in their respective states. And that is what makes
the culture of Tulu people so unique.
Native communities are those of Bunts, Koragas,
Malekudiya, Billavas, Jains , Shettigars, Tulu Gowda's, Devadiga, Kulalas, Koraga, Mogaveera, Tulu Brahmins, Vishwakarmas, Nayaks etc. Mangalorean Protestants are also Tulu speakers. A Tulu woman is called Tuluvedi . Being
a tuluvedi it’s a different feeling and proud of this culture.

customs and rituals:
Bhuta-Aradhana in Tulu Nadu is similar to the rest of South India though the bhutas as well as
their worship differ. The kola or Nema is the yearly ceremony celebrating the
festival of bhutas. Bhutas can be animistic as in Panjurli (pig) or
Pili-Bhuta (tiger). Tulu Nadu, people
believe and revere Gods of Nature such as Naga Daiva (Serpent God), Bhootas (local spirits), and Mother Earth. This all is done to protect their family and
nature. It is the beautiful bond of people and nature from ages ago that has
taken the form of the divine.

in famous movie Kantara. The culture became known to any people around the
world and has being translated in many languages.
Tulu language:
Tulu Nadu speak a language called Tulu
which belongs to the Dravidian family of languages. Much of Tulu especially the
historical inscriptions from the 14th and 15th centuries are written in the Tigalari script. Tigalari is a sister script of Malayalam.

New Year is called Bisu Parba, which falls on the same day as Baisakhi, Vishu . An interesting part of the
culture of Tulu Nadu is this extensive collection of Tulu oral literature
called the Tulu Paddanas.
A
traditional theater form that developed in coastal Karnataka, Yakshagana forms an integral part of the Tulu social fabric. This
dance-cum-theater is a unique combination of attractive costumes, elaborate
facial make-up, and an interesting storyline usually drawn from the Hindu epics
of Ramayana and Mahabharata. You really have to watch a Yakshagana
troupe perform when you are in Karnataka.
Food:
Food in Tulunadu
is a rich, multi-culinary affair. You have seen many south Indian restaurants
in every city, because of the taste enriched in the flavours of fo0d. Tulu Nadu recipes include Neer Dosa, Kori Rotti, Patrode, Goli
Baje, Chicken Ghee Roast, Chicken Sukka, and Bangude Pulimunchi..
Tulunadu is a
significantly full of different colors
